My lifetime interest in fibers and fabrics has propelled me from self-taught seamstress through a study of sewing techniques in college, teaching clothing construction to high-schoolers and 4-H girls, constructing theatrical costumes, and teaching costume design. Quilting became of such interest that I felt compelled to retire from my job as Professor of Theatrical Costume and devote myself, full time, to making quilts. I love all types of quilts but my work has evolved from traditional quilting to art quilts. I delight in always experimenting and trying new techniques and learning new ways to express myself through fabrics and related materials. |
