I grew up with the urge to create visual expression and beauty. When I was a girl my mother taught me to sew and create clothing, and on my own, I began interpreting the natural world of light and form through oil painting. But it wasn’t until I combined the possibilities of color and fabric that I found the most satisfying medium of expression for me. It began with quilting, which was very traditional at first, before growing bold and artistically inspired. Using photographs and pictures, I started to interpret in fabric what I saw on the page. This journey into fiber art, bolstered by techniques I learned through various classes, continues today in an abstract expressionist style. The camaraderie of my fellow fiber artists and the limitless possibilities of future projects has given me a passion that has become both literally and figuratively the fabric of my artistic life.
